It was the early hours of the morning on July 13th, 2001 when computer systems around the world began to fall victim to a new and particularly virulent strain of computer virus. It was the early hours of May 4, 2000 in the Philippines when Onel de Guzman released the ILOVEYOU virus into the world. This virus, considered by many to be the most dangerous computer virus ever created, quickly spread around the globe, infecting millions of computers within days. The ILOVEYOU virus was a devastating malware attack that caused billions of dollars in damage and disrupted the lives of many people.

The ILOVEYOU virus was a Trojan horse virus that spread itself by email.
